My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I am a sucker for post apocalyptic books and dog books, so this was a perfect match for me. While it does not have a story line that is fast paced careening from one happening to the next, it is character driven, meditative about the themes of family and loyalty, and manages to highlight our collective humanity while emphasizing the amazing relationship we have with dogs. A very enjoyable read.
